Blow-Your-Mind Chocolatey Brownies
Prep Time: About 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes
Servings: 16 brownies
Ingredients:
12 tablespoons (1½ sticks) unsalted butter
12 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped (or 12 ounces dark chocolate chips)
3 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter and lightly flour an 8-inch-square baking pan and set aside.
Using a double boiler over medium heat, melt together the butter and chocolate. Alternatively, melth the butter and chocolate in a large glass or metal bowl over a medium saucepan filled with about 1 inch of water. Stir together the butter and chocolate to create a smooth mixture, remove from the heat, and set aside to cool slightly.
Meanwhile, whisk together the eggs, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Pour the egg mixture into the cooled chocolate mixture, add the vanilla, and whisk until combined. Finally, add the flour and stir slowly until just barely combined, taking care not to over-mix.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly with a rubber spatula to ensure even baking.
Place in the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, but no liquid batter. Remove from the oven and set the pan on a wire rack to cool. Serve warm.
